Most of us have energetic blocks and imbalances which constrict the flow of life force, and prevent us from accessing our full vitality, which leads us to feel exhausted, scattered, vague, and unwell. We are what we eat, and what we put into our bodies affects how we feel, think, and how our bodies perform. Food is one of the biggest healers and preventatives of illness. When we have times of feeling lazy, unconfident, unsuccessful, fatigued, depressed, anxious, frustrated, emotional, and burnt out, these are indicators that our chakras are blocked. By eating certain rainbow coloured foods, and repeat certain practises it helps us to restore our motivation, and super charge our energy
Here’s how it works:
RED for ENERGY (Root Chakra)
When it is out balance, you may experience joint pain or tightness (especially in the hips or knees); lower back pain; swollen feet; feelings of insecurity, not being safe, and unmet basic needs, feel run down, fatigued, burnt out, lazy or lethargic… Choose these foods to boost your energy levels and body temperature.
Supportive foods:
• Bright red foods from the earth, including red apple and cranberry, foods with roots such as radishes, red potatoes, beets; red beans and lentils
• Red fruits, including watermelon, pomegranate, cherries, all red berries
• Food grown with deep tree roots or on a vine, tomatoes. Red herbal teas such as rooibos or hibiscus
• Harvest grains and other deeply rooted grains and proteins
• Earthly mineral stews and broths
Beneficial practices:
• Grounding down to earth by walking barefoot on soil, sand, or grass
• Doing strong, grounded yoga poses, such as tree and mountain
• Re-establishing roots by learning to forgive those mistakes or transgressions committed by caregivers in early childhood and learning to provide those things that instil a feeling of safety, security, and basic needs being met on a daily basis
• Taking ownership of old story
ORANGE for CONFIDENCE & SELF-WORTH (Creativity Chakra)
When you are out of balance you may suffer from addictions, overemphasize sexuality and self-pleasure, feel the need to fit into a specific image, or feel creatively stifled. If you are low on confidence, doubting yourself or feeling unworthy of love, choose these foods to raise your confidence.
Supportive foods:
• Foods with a high amount of water in them
• Orange foods like cumin, turmeric, and ginger
• Spices and teas that soothe elimination and balance hormones
• Carrots, peppers, squashes, pumpkin, oranges, mangoes, tangerines
• Foods with vitamins C, B, and A
Beneficial practices:
• Self-affirmation
• Listening to what your body tells you it needs
• Yoga for balance
• Walking, swimming, slow hikes
• Journaling feelings of desires, destiny manifesting, and dreams

YELLOW for JOY (Solar Plexus Chakra)
